Reasons to be purple:Talking it over with Genghis Khan by Heather Reyes. Live at Archway with Words 10/10
Reasons to be purple ...
How amazing is that? Certain molluscs (Purpura haemastoma and Murex brandaris, so I'm told) have cysts adjacent to their heads. These cysts produce a pus-like matter which, when spread on textiles in the sun (see the cloth laid out under blue Roman skies), will turn the material a reddish purple. From 'yuk' to beauty with the help of a star (though ninety-three million miles away). That's what we are.
Reasons to be purple is a story in Heather Reyes' new short story collection, Talking it over with Genghis Khan, published by Oxygen Books on 8 October 2015. Heather will be appearing at the Archway with Words festival on 10 October 2015.
