In need of a good book at Helsinki airport? Then your best bet might be to swop the one you've finished for another good read, maybe meet a famous author - and relax in the comfort of the airport's de-luxe book swap library.
The Helsinki Airport Book Swap
Open since 2012, in association with Finnair and Quality Hunters, whose on-line members dreamt up the initiative, the book swap has gone from strength to strength.
Amsterdam's Schiphol airport may have the world's first library airport but Helsinki's book swap has definitely added something equally exciting and innovative to international travel.
Other airports please note: the succcess of both schemes proves that travellers don't just want to be passive consumers drinking endless lattes and staring at indicator boards.
Are readers then more likely to be heading for Helskini (and Schiphol) airports in the near future? We can but hope so. Tedious interchanges have to be a little more tolerable in the company of a good (and unexpected) book.
Helsinki airport's book swap library is on the second floor next to Gate 27 in terminal 2.
