There are some amazing writers on cities and, like you, we're discovering more all the time. Have you ever thought of trying one of these writers with your book group: there's nothing like an evocative and compelling city title to take you to exciting places. Who knows, they may even attract you and your friends enough to want to visit the cities and make even more discoveries!
We hope you get some inspiration from the city-lit cafe but you might also like to check out city-lit Paris, published this April. It includes nearly seventy writers, with an emphasis on the contemporary, from Joanne Harris, Kate Mosse and Julian Barnes to Irene Nemirovsky, Proust and Claude Izner and might provide 'tasters' to help your group decide what to read at more length. As well as getting that unforgettable taste of Paris of course.
Let us know if any of the city-lit cafe recommendations have been popular with your book group. And do let us know too what has already worked well with your group.
If you're thinking of running a book course you might also be interested in using city-lit Paris to introduce your students to the amazing wealth of writing on this fabulous city.
